Dr Shengrui Lan Ph.D.
Principal Scientist, Karagozian & Case Inc., USA
Dr. Lan has 25 years’ experience in structural engineering, focusing on finite element analysis of structures under static, dynamic, blast and impact loads. He has performed numerous high-fidelity physics based (HFPB) finite element analyses for blast and impact effects on various protective structures/systems for evaluating their blast/impact resistance and determining their design parameters. His HFPB models have been validated by many full-scale blast field tests and vehicle crash tests.
Dr. Lan has managed/involved numerous projects in blast effects analysis and design for blast protection of airport facilities, blast mitigation retrofits of office buildings including perimeter protection, window upgrade, column retrofit, progressive collapse mitigation and internal explosion isolation. He has been a key member in developing a series of anti-ram devices for DOS K4 to K12 ratings and a K50 anti-ram wall, which passed the vehicle crash tests and installed around many buildings, such as UN headquarters and the Times Square NYC.
He authored over 50 papers and reports related to blast and
impact effects analysis/design and structural engineering. He offered this seminar in UK, Australia, Singapore, France, Poland, China and USA in last 15 years.
Asher Gehl
Director, Karagozian & Case Australia Pty Ltd.
Asher Gehl is the Managing Director of the Australian Office of Karagozian & Case. Asher is a Principal Member of the UK CPNI Register of Security Engineers and Specialists (RSES) and a Chartered Professional Structural Engineer with eighteen years of experience in protective design and structural vulnerability assessments from blast and impact. Asher has a long history of experience and exposure to explosive safety, counterterrorism and security and has successfully delivered numerous high-profile projects across several disciplines including Defence, Government, Transport (Major Rail and Aviation), Commercial, Petrochemical and Civil Infrastructure requiring design for blast, vehicular impact and progressive collapse.
Asher has developed a trusting working relationship with key Australian Defence, Government and Police stakeholders and is the Vice Chair of the Australian International Association of Protective Structures (Australia).
